1967 Isle of Man TT
My introduction to the famous TT motorcycle race was in 1967. I was assigned by the London Sunday Times to travel to the Isle of Man to cover what turned out to be a legendary year for the 100 year old event.
It was the year that Mike the bike Hailwood took on Giacomo Agostini for the World championship.
The ferry from England comes to Douglas, the city on the Isle of Man that hosts the event and it is undoubtedly the biggest party of the year. Hotels and b&bs are full….the course itself is hugely dangerous with fatal accidents all too frequent. The lap record is 130 mph…over country roads on the mountain circuit.
What will will it be this time? I am sure that the thousands of fans will not be disappointed.
